Turn Light, Pixel Down, P-P-P-Punch!

Kibesa!

It’s time for another post of promises i’ll try my best to, but fail to keep ;) :P

Firstly I just want to apologise for the lack of posting these past few weeks. I’ve been working on This Week In WiiDs while the podcast was on hiatus and have since been studying for my driving theory test that’s next week. I’ve also been perparing for my future as I finally got my exam results today and am now going on to study computing at Nottingham Trent University (Yay!)

Other excuses involve a lot of gaming, well two games in particular… Firstly I’ve had a burst of insperation and have made ten or so new Smash Bros stages. I’m currently in the process of making/playing/filming/editing them but expect plenty of videos soon. My other big time consumer is the brilliantly fantastic Rhythm Heaven. Since I want to hold a review off time the Enligh version is available, but still want to tell you about its awsomeness I am going to be doing a fair amount of features and videos of the game. A stage list and descriptions should be up this weekend followed by videos in any particular order (unless you request one). On top of that, keeping with the rhythm, we also have this months musical Advert Of The Week entries to look forward to and something else… possibly…

Finally, I promised to give a shout out to everyone who has emailed me or left me a reply so a big big thank you to:

Magazines And Milestones

27 07 2008

Kiambote Kieno!

This is just a short post to let you know whats going on currently. Firstly I am going to be taking a break from not posting what I said I was. This is due to the fact that while the WiiDs Podcast is taking a break I am in charge of putting together an online magazine format of the show. This is taking up most of my time and is a lot more interesting than my normal posts so until the show is back on air expect one very long post a week filled with news, views, interesting tidbits and randomness. You can read the first issue here. I’ll also be continuing to post Advert Of The Week and possibly some Creative Outlet so there will still be some new bits :)

Also, I just want to say thank you to everyone whos taken the time to read my posts so far. This week has seen my 50th post as well as Jumpman In Minus World reaching 2ooo views. I want to give a shout out to all of my regular readers in my next update to say thanks so please email me or leave a comment and i’ll be sure to mention you.

Thank you once again, without your support I probably wouldn’t be here still.

Wrists, Reviews and Far Too Many Videos

12 07 2008

Ta’áníku!

It’s time for another random update from the world of me :P

Firstly I want to apologise for the lack of actual text this past week or so. Unfortunately I had a nastly fall and sprained my wrist, so this has prevented me from being able to type efficiently. Fortunately, it was well enough to hold a camera though, thus the mass flood of videos. While I would love to say I’ve got an article or two lined up instead, but the fact is there’s more and more videos. So you have the visual pleasure of looking forward to Advert of The Week, a new Smashing Stage and a classic Smashing Stage that was requested by one of my subscribers on Youtube.

I’m also planning on doing my first Video Review soon. This will be for Toki Tori, which is fantastic fun! I’m currently in the process of collecting enough film, and then it needs editing and voicing over. Hopefully I can get this done for you sometime next week.

I’m also planning a review of Game Freak’s platformer Drill Dozer, which i’ve just managed to finish and possible a review of Okami. I’m also toying with a piece about the trends of familiarity within the market, and how the customers precieved safety in buying a title affects its sales performance. Of course theres also going to be my post-E3 wrap up, taking a look at all of Nintendo’s big announcements and my opinions on what has been going on.

Now then, as for the articles I promised and haven’t done yet. Firstly, i’m still planning on doing them at some point. As mentioned above, Toki Tori has now been changed into a video review. As for Final Fantasy Tactics Retrospective, i’m waiting until I get much further in the game in case there are still some more things I haven’t seen. The Evolution Of Rhythm Games has a rather large Pages document dedicated to it, filled with a random assortment of information and points that needs organising into a coherent article. I’m also waiting for my copy of Band Bros DX to arrive, which in my opinion plays quite a big role in the future of rhythm games and thus want to test it’s features before I write the piece. As for the Wiiware article, I don’t feel as strongly about it as I did before, but still have one or two interesting points. Therefore i’m going to wait till E3 to see what is said about WiiWare and then piece together some random babble that doesn’t really lead anywhere.

So that’s what’s been going on, and heres what you have to look forward to in the coming weeks:

  • Advert Of The Week: [To Be Decided]
  • Smashing Stages: Pie Factory
  • Smashing Stages: Plumbers Hill
  • E3 Wrap-Up
  • Review: Drill Dozer
  • Video Review: Toki tori
  • Review: Okami
  • The Evolution Of Rhythm Games
  • WiiWare Discussion
  • The Franchise Safety Net And It’s Affect On New Series

This Way I Have No Choice

26 06 2008

Update

Ahoy there readers!

Firstly I just wanted to apologise for the lack of content these past few weeks. I’ve been very ill and haven’t been able to post. That said, i’ve got several ideas for posts brewing and by posting them here I have an obligation to actually write them. So expect to see these over the next few weeks:

  • Has NOE Killed WiiWare? (
  • The Evolution Of Rhythm Games (Working on this one. I’ve got alot to say but need to organise my thoughts)
  • Review: Toki Tori (Holding this off until I complete it)
  • Review: Space Invaders Extreme
  • Retrospective: Final Fantasy Tactics A2
  • The Best Games You’ve Never Played: PacMan Vs
  • Ad Of The Week: Marbles

I might also add Smash Stages once I get back into the game, or at least post up some of my best ones i’ve already made :)

The Best Games You Never Played is going to be a semi-regular new article about some of those rare gems that are so damn fun, while Ad of the week should hopefully be up (You Guessed It!) every week and is part of my Advert Database project i’m working on for WiiDs. In this section I will be showcasing some of Nintendos better, stranger and funnier ads from over the years. Smash Stages will likely be large blocks as once i’m playing I get creative but once it’s on the shelf i’m no fussed.

Hopefully will get these up soon for you all!

If you have anything you want me to write about, random questions for me to answer, or just want to say hi, email me here. Please do as I love getting your mail and will replay asap :)

All The Best!
